My name is Fr. Matthew Considine, SMM. I was appointed pastor of Saints Peter and Paul Parish effective June 29, 2022, by Bishop John Barres of the Diocese of Rockville Centre.

I am a member of the Missionaries of the Company of Mary (Montfort Missionaries), a religious community founded in France by St. Louis de Montfort.  As many of you know, we also have members of our religious community at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island in Manorville and the Montfort Spiritual Center in Bay Shore.

I was ordained to the priesthood in 1977 and have served over 30 years in parish ministry, first at St. Teresa of Avila parish in St. Louis, Missouri, and later at St. Mary Gate of Heaven in Ozone Park, Queens.  I have always loved this direct ministry with God’s faithful people.

After parish ministry, I have been involved in administrative work for my religious Community. I served as Provincial Superior of the United States Province of the Montfort Missionaries from 2006-2018 and several positions in finance and administration on both the local and international levels since then.

Over this time, I have had the privilege to serve in pastoral care at Maria Regina Residence and with the Sisters of St. Joseph at St Joseph Convent.

I am really looking forward to return to full-time parish ministry.
